シルバーの旧友であるゴルドが製作した。ゴルドは他界したが，彼の感情や知識は人工頭脳にすべてコピーされ，ナイトサンダーのナビゲーションシステムとして，いまもなお生き続けている。旧式ではあるが，引退まで乗り続けるつもりらしい。瞬発力勝負のマシンで，ダッシュ能力に優れている。

「F-ZERO」レース最多出場記録を持ち，「鉄人シルバー」と呼ばれているが，優勝経験は一度もない。本人いわく「参加することに意義がある」とのこと。しかし来年白寿（99才）なので，もうそろそろ引退しようか，それとも100才を越えても続けようか悩んでいるらしい。かなり旧式のマシンを未だに愛用しており，また歳のせいか口うるさくなり，他人の最新マシンにケチをつけることが多い。
